We worked with an Australian bakery that expanded too fast. Although it was generating a huge turnover of $2.5mil, it made ever increasing losses that were mounting.
The original bakery in a closed down petrol station was very profitable and became an icon in the local area, however when 2 more stores were opened in shopping malls the profitability collapsed and destroyed the liquidity of all businesses threatening closure.
We conducted a profit leakage diagnostic and got to the cause of the problems and immediately started using the process in our rescue manual.
It took a few months to undo all the bad decisions that were made but after a visit to the bank and showing them the business plan they agreed to support the business for a further 6 months until the recovery occurred. The business is now trading perfectly and making huge profits.

Motel with a manager problem
A motel with annualised revenue of $4million had challenges with the hiring decisions they made to alleviate the Business Owner from working in the business, instead of on the business. Our consultants stepped in and with our training and their expertise, helped get the motel management team back on board.

This Australian juice business was started in the 1970’s by the current owners Father.
In recent years the profitabilty has vanished and it was losing 1m per year, the bank was very concerned and threatening to withdraw financial support unless they were able to prove that the business could be returned to profitability. After conducting a profit leakage analysis, our consultant discovered where the leakage was and put in place a business plan to return the business to health. In the first year of working with the business we stopped the loss, and in the second year achieved a $1m profit.
This was a very lucrative consulting contract based on a percentage of profit improvement, the annual fee was around $100k.

Outdoor furniture retailer loosing money, fast
This company had a strong financial position that had started to slide backwards, and they didn’t know why. The BCNZ consultant was able to identify the issues and help get this retailer back on track.
“We were turning over $750k two years ago, but since then we have been sliding backwards and are now at $365k and losing money. We had to do something if we are going to turn this around, instead of nothing and hoping tomorrow would be better. My wife and I no longer get to have holidays and have had to spend all our time in the business, which is affecting our family life with our kids. This Fleet Operator had an annual revenue of $10.5m, but set their sights on growing further, improving cash flow in a competitive market and growing via tenders and acquisitions. Our consultant advised on these exciting and lucrative growth opportunities.
